Our primary focus is wellsite’s, compressor stations, pipelines, and batteries within the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Funtec Projects has the experience managing capital programs for greenfield development along with troubleshooting facility issues related to MOC projects.

Process Engineer:

The successful Process Engineer selected for this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide technical expertise in process safety and engineering for team projects.
  • Debottlenecking studies and optimization of operating facilities.
  • Responsible for flare system design, evaluation, PSV and OPP evaluations.
  • Assist and guide process safety reviews, hazops, what-if analysis, layers of protection analysis (LOPA).
  • Assist in the development and review of shut down keys.
  • Coordinate with internal project and support groups.
  • Provide critique as P&ID and PFD’s through the IFA to IFC stages.
  • Oversee and review engineering design notes, calculations, specifications and drawings.
  • Complete site visits for equipment as-building, project scoping, and construction support.
  • Train and assist project managers, designers, client managers, and support staff.
  • Liaise regularly with clients to ensure the quality of work is held as the highest level.
  • Knowing and understanding customer’s needs and requirements as outlined in scope documents, DBM’s, Facilities Reports and weekly project meetings.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science/Diploma in Mechanical/Civil/Chemical/Petroleum Engineering
  • 10+ years experience and registered with APEGA as a PEng
  • PEng designation is a requirement
  • Experience with EPC/oil and gas project experience
  • Experience with process engineering software and calculations
  • Confidence reading and redlining P&ID, PFD, and Shut down key deliverables
  • Employee or contractor status will be considered for this role.

  • Strong coaching and mentorship skills
  • Good communication skills

Project Engineer/Technologist:

The successful Project Engineer/Technologist selected for this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead the execution of oil and gas facility and pipeline projects.
  • Complete site visits for equipment as-building, project scoping, and construction support.
  • Oversee and review engineering design notes, calculations, specifications and drawings.
  • Liaise regularly with clients to ensure the quality of work is held as the highest level.
  • Knowing and understanding customer’s needs and requirements as outlined in scope documents, DBM’s, Facilities Reports and weekly project meetings.
  • Complete equipment design and selection based on project needs.
  • Provide critique on all project deliverables through the IFA to IFC stages.
  • Assist in the development and review of shut down keys.
  • Coordinate with internal support groups to meet project requirements.
  • Train and assist project managers, designers, client managers, and support staff.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science/Diploma in Mechanical/Civil/Chemical/Petroleum Engineering
  • 5+ years experience with EPC/oil and gas project experience
  • Preference if registered as PEng with APEGA or ASET as a PTech
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects to client expectations
  • Experience with capital development and MOC projects

Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Specialist:

The successful Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Specialist selected for this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide technical expertise in the electrical, instrumentation and controls portion with P&ID development for team projects.
  • Create BOM for electrical and instrumentation devices.
  • Size, select and provide technical guidance on equipment selection.
  • Develop control philosophies for equipment operation.
  • Assist in the development of shut down keys.
  • Liaise with E&I and Automation contractors to ensure project success.
  • Coordinate with internal project and support groups.
  • Provide critique as P&ID, Electrical and Network drawings pass through the IFA to IFC stages.
  • Oversee and review engineering design notes, calculations, specifications and drawings.
  • Complete site visits for equipment as-building, project scoping, and construction support.
  • Train and assist project managers, designers, client managers, and support staff.
  • Liaise regularly with clients to ensure the quality of work is held as the highest level.
  • Knowing and understanding customer’s needs and requirements as outlined in scope documents, DBM’s, Facilities Reports and weekly project meetings.

Skills/Experience:

  • 10+ yrs in technical field experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Journeyman Electrician or Instrument Technician
  • Automation experience considered a strong asset
  • Confidence reading and redlining P&ID’s, Electrical Dwgs, and Control Philosophies
  • Experience with EPC/oil and gas project experience
  • Experience with capital development and MOC projects
  • Bachelor of Science/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is an asset
  • Employee or contractor status will be considered for this role.

Process Piping Designer:

The successful Process Piping Designer selected for this position will be responsible for the following:

  • Developing plot plans, P&ID’s and 3D models
  • Preparing of drawings and related documents for construction and assisting with as-builts.
  • Understanding of drafting principles and using all related software.
  • Knowing and understanding customer’s needs and requirements as outlined in scope documents, DBM’s, Facilities Reports and weekly project meetings.
  • Taking concepts and ideas from meetings, discussions and field visits, visualizing them, and then creating drawing packages for clients review and approval.
  • Correlating components / equipment such as different types of fittings / valves, corrosion monitoring systems, safety devices, etc. as seen or understood on-site and comparing to drawing packages or vice versa. Create BOM for pipe, valves and fittings.
  • Complete site visits for site and equipment as-building.
  • Having the ability to dialogue with Operations, Project Managers, Drafting Team and Facility Engineers with respect to processes, technical information, facilities, and the overall ins / outs of drawing packages.

Skills/Experience:

  • 5 - 10 yrs in technical experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
  • Experience with EPC/oil and gas project experience
  • Diploma or equivalent qualifications in Mechanical / Petroleum Drafting / Design.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 3D / Cadworx
  • Attention to Detail
  • Good documentation and communicating skills
  • Handles timeline pressure well
